We started Tale to change this.

We believe the relationship between a brand and consumer should be mutually beneficial. A relationship where the brand adds value to the life of the consumer outside of just selling them products.

Our philosophy is that you can either take consumers away from what they want or you can be what they want. We’re here to help you be what they want.

Noah Cook

We met in college and bonded over a shared passion for storytelling. Together, we saw the need for affinity brands – brands who focus on building community through real stories – and founded Tale to fulfill this vision with unscripted, documentary-style content that goes beyond mere selling to forge lasting connections.

Before reuniting as one, Noah worked in the big agency world, leading strategic planning for clients like AT&T, State Farm and Smoothie King.

Zach, on the other hand, became an Emmy Award-winning director and cinematographer creating work for Lululemon, Shriner’s Children’s, Mizuno, Atlantic Records, the NCAA, and others.

We both recognized that in order to build a brand for the long-term, you have to think and act accordingly. Short-term incentives and impulsive tactics may yield quick results, but they rarely create lasting value.

Methodology

Many of the brands we know and love (Nike, OnRunning, Athletic Greens, Timberland, etc.) have similar characteristics. Not only do they have a strong team and premium products— they harness the power of the Brand Affinity Flywheel. In doing so, they magnetically attract a specific type of consumer, elevating the value of the brand-consumer relationship.

The Brand Affinity Flywheel is a brand strategy that helps unlock meaningful relationships between brand and consumers. It consists of four key components:

Ideology, Products, Content, and Community.

By consistently aligning these elements and creating a virtuous cycle of engagement, brands can build deep, lasting connections with their audiences. We share this framework with all of our clients, and leverage it in everything we do.
